Currency
The official currency of Croatia is Kuna (1 kuna = 100 lipa).
There are coins of 1,2,5,10,20 and 50 lipas, and 1,2,5, and 25 kunas, as well as paper money of 5,10,20,50,100,200,500 and 1000 kunas.
Foreign currency can be changed in banks, money exchange offices, post offices and in most tourist agencies, hotels and camps.
Eurocheques can be exchanged only in banks. Credit cards and other forms of Standard credit card payment – Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners, American Express and Visa is a common way of payment in Croatia.
All stores, restaurants, agencies, hotels and other selling places which take credit cards as a way of payment for goods and services have distinguished etiquettes or labels with the logotype of the credit card you can use.
You can pick up cash advance on your credit cards at the ATM machines. At the post office, you can pick up cash advances for Eurocard/Mastercard and Diners credit cards. With the cashing of passenger cheques there is a 2% commission. Eurocheques and other personal cheques from foreign banks can be cashed out in kunas at the money exchange offices or banks.

Water from water-tap is drinkable in all parts of Croatia.

Toll regulations of the Republic of Croatia are in synchronization with the standards of the European Union countries.

Valuable professional and technical equipment should be reported at the state border.
Dogs and cats, accompanied by the owner should have an International certificate from a registered veterinarian that at least 15 days have passed since vaccination against rabies but not more than six months.

Post office and telecommunications
Post offices are opened from 7 – 19 hours during work day, in smaller places from 7 – 14 hours, and some work double shifts. In larger towns and tourist resorts, on duty post offices are open on Saturday and Sunday till 22 hours.
Stamps can also be purchased at the newspaper stands.
On all public phones, phone cards must be used. They are sold at the post offices and at newspaper stands.
Shopping
Traditional hand-made items are the best souvenir, and cover the whole range of items from knitting, crochet-work goods (table cloth, clothing) and lace, to silver jewelry and jewelry from sea coral or shellfish. Interesting items made of wood and ceramics, manually processed, can be found along the coast.

Radio news in foreign languages during the tourist season
On program Second Croatian radio, along with regular news in English, HAK will give traffic reports in English, German and Italian, and information for boaters several times a day.
Each full hour, also on the program Second Croatian radio, alternating news and traffic reports are broadcasted directly from the studio of: Third Bavarian radio program, Third Austrian radio program, RAI Uno, British Virgin radio and Czech radio. Informations for boaters are broadcasted in English and Croatian language during the day.

Geographical location
Croatia extends from the furthest eastern edges of the Alps in the northwest to the Pannonian lowlands and the banks of the Danube in the east, its central part covers the Dinara mountain range, and its southern part ends on the Adriatic coast.
Climate
Two climate zones exist in Croatia; temperate continental climate prevails in the interior, and partially mountainous, while pleasant Mediterranean climate with many sunny days prevails along the Adriatic coast; hot summers, mild and humid winters; average temperature in the interior: January 0 to 2˚C, August 19 to 23˚C; average temperature at the seaside: January 6 to 11˚C, August 21 to 27˚C; temperature of the sea in the winter is 12˚C, and about 25˚C at summer.

The continental part is 56.542 km2, and the surface of territorial sea 31.067 km2.
Population
4.437.460 inhabitants; ethnic composition: the majority of the population are Croats, ethnic minorities are Serbs, Slovenes, Hungarians, Bosnians, Italians, Czechs and others.
